Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Choose a battlefield
Place the double-sided board on the table, selecting which side to use
2
Select your hero
Each player chooses a hero and takes their corresponding 30 action cards, character card, hero miniature, sidekick tokens, health dials, and any other components
3
Set starting health
Each player sets their hero's and sidekick's starting health on the matching health dials as shown on character cards
4
Prepare your deck
Each player shuffles their action cards to form a face-down deck, then draws 5 cards as their starting hand
5
Place the younger player's fighters
The younger player places their hero in the 1 space, then places sidekicks in separate spaces within the same zone as their hero
6
Place the older player's fighters
The older player places their hero in the 2 space, then places sidekicks following the same zone rules
7
Begin play
The younger player takes the first turn

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Take two actions
You must take exactly 2 actions per turn; you may choose two different actions or the same action twice
2
Maneuver action - Draw a card
Draw the top card of your deck and add it to your hand (mandatory)
3
Maneuver action - Move your fighters
Move each of your fighters up to your move value shown on your character card
4
Scheme action
Play a scheme card from your hand face up, declare which fighter plays it, resolve the effect, then discard it
5
Attack action - Declare target
Choose which of your fighters attacks and select a valid target
6
Attack action - Choose and reveal cards
The attacker plays an attack card face down, the defender may play a defense card face down, then both reveal simultaneously
7
Attack action - Resolve combat
Resolve effects in order: immediately, during combat, then calculate damage
8
Winning combat
The attacker wins if they dealt at least one damage from the attack itself; the defender wins if they took no damage from the attack itself
9
Drawing from empty deck
When your deck is empty, your fighters are exhausted; if you must draw, each of your fighters takes 2 damage instead
10
Hand limit
At the end of your turn, discard down to 7 cards if you have more

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Defeat the opposing hero
You win immediately when your opponent's hero is reduced to zero health
2
Defeating sidekicks
When a sidekick is reduced to zero health, remove them from the battlefield; sidekicks without health dials have only 1 health
3
Losing the game
If your hero is defeated, you immediately lose
4
Team play victory
In team games, both opposing heroes must be defeated for a team to win
5
Eliminated players in team play
When a player's hero is defeated, they continue taking turns if they have sidekicks remaining; if all fighters are defeated, they are eliminated and take no more turns
