Unmatched Adventures: Tales to Amaze

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Understand the document purpose
This supplement provides advanced rules for adapting competitive Unmatched fighters to the cooperative Unmatched Adventures system
2
Prepare proxy components for Black Panther
Gather up to 10 dice (6 is typically sufficient) to represent cards stored in the Vibranium Suit, or set aside cards from unused character/enemy decks with matching BOOST values
3
Reference the enemy card appendix
Familiarize yourself with enemy card names and BOOST values listed in Appendix 1 before playing, especially when using Sherlock Holmes
4
Note character-specific requirements
Review whether your chosen fighter (Beowulf, Black Panther, Black Widow, InGen, Sherlock Holmes, Spider-Man, or Winter Soldier) has special rule modifications

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Choose an opponent
When a card effect requires choosing an opponent, select the single closest enemy to your acting fighter based on fewest spaces between them
2
Interpret 'hero' references
When effects mention "that opponent's hero" or "their hero," apply it to your chosen opponent; when effects mention "opposing hero" or ask "if the opponent is a hero," it refers to the villain
3
Look at opponent's hand
Reveal cards from the top of their deck equal to the current threat level, then shuffle remaining cards and return them to the deck top after resolving the effect
4
Handle opponent choices
When your card would have an opponent choose between multiple effects, determine the choice randomly using a coin or dice
5
Process opponent card draw effects
When your combat card would have the opponent draw cards, discard that many cards from their deck instead; if the highest BOOST value discarded equals or exceeds current Threat, increase Threat by 1
6
Apply enemy BOOST effects
When an effect would have an enemy BOOST or BLIND BOOST their combat, increase their combat value by 3, then reduce it by the number of times the villain's objective has been completed
7
Treat enemy cards as versatile
For player card effects, consider all enemy cards as versatile cards (counting as both attack and defense cards)
8
Use Beowulf's NO CONTEST EXPECTETH
When attacking a minion, spend all Rage to add effects in order: cancel all card effects, ignore card value, then after combat place their initiative card beneath yours
9
Store cards in Black Panther's Vibranium Suit
Set a die to the stored card's BOOST value and discard the original card; use stored dice as cards with matching BOOST values
10
Complete Black Widow's modified missions
Follow replaced mission conditions and rewards as specified in the character rules section
11
Guide InGen's trap interactions
Determine enemy target ignoring traps, have enemy take shortest path regardless of traps (players choose path if tied), and enemy attacks even if stopped short by trap
12
Use Sherlock Holmes' CONFIRM SUSPICION
Name a card in the chosen enemy's deck, reveal their top card; if correct, deal damage equal to BOOST value and discard it, otherwise return it to deck top
13
Apply Spider-Man's SPIDEY-SENSE
Set your initiative aside at round start; before any initiative reveal, you may place yours on top of the deck; when attacked before your turn, look at their attack card first but place your initiative on top if you lose
14
Resolve Winter Soldier's negative effects
For BIONIC ARM, place revealed enemy initiative cards at deck bottom after combat; for MANIPULATION, place all enemy discard piles on their decks and shuffle

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Follow standard Adventures victory conditions
These advanced rules modify how certain card effects function but do not change the base game's win/loss conditions
2
Track threat level carefully
Enemy BOOST values from discarded cards can increase Threat, but will never complete an objective since no villain or minion has a BOOST value higher than their highest threat value
3
Maintain game balance awareness
These rules are not rigorously playtested and are designed to restore thematic flavor to cards rather than ensure perfect balance
