Lorenzo il Magnifico

Players lead noble Renaissance families, deploying family members across city locations to gather resources, acquire development cards, and activate abilities. Family members have varying strength determined by dice rolls each round. On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Understand family member values
Each colored family member's value equals the matching die; the neutral (wood) family member always equals 0
2
Boost family member value
Before placing, spend servants (purple meeples) to increase value; each servant adds 1
3
Place one family member
Position in an action space with value requirement equal to or less than your family member's value
4
Pay card costs
All cards except territories (green) have costs in the upper left corner that must always be paid
5
Gain immediate benefits
Collect any benefits shown in the card's center section (next to lightning bolt)
6
Apply permanent effects
Effects in the bottom section of cards remain active throughout the game
7
Observe space limits
Each tower action space holds only one family member
8
Collect floor bonuses
When placing on 3rd or 4th floors, immediately receive the indicated bonus (can be used toward card cost)
9
Pay tower occupation fee
If any family member is already in that tower, pay 3 coins before receiving floor bonuses
10
Respect color restriction
Two family members of the same player color cannot be in the same tower (neutral pawns ignore this rule)
11
Place territory cards (green)
No cost; place in leftmost free space on personal board; additional spaces require military points shown above them (points not spent, just required)
12
Place building cards (yellow)
Pay resource costs; place in top row with door symbols
13
Place character cards (blue)
Always pay with coins; place in lower right area of personal board
14
Place venture cards (purple)
Pay resources or military points (choose if dual cost); place in upper right area
15
Observe card limit
Maximum 6 cards of each type on personal board
16
Use single space
Left space holds one family member at full value
17
Use large space
Right space allows multiple family members with -3 penalty to action value; same-color restriction still applies (except neutral)
18
Activate production
Gain benefits from vertical tile's gear symbol plus permanent effects from yellow building cards with matching or lower activation value
19
Activate harvest
Gain benefits from vertical tile's axe symbol plus permanent effects from green territory cards with matching or lower activation value
20
Prepare for payment effects
Have money available before activation if cards require payment for benefits
21
Claim market rewards
Each space holds only one family member; gain 5 coins, 5 servants, 3 military points plus 2 coins, or 2 different privileges
22
Choose privileges
Options are: 1 wood and 1 stone, 2 servants, 2 coins, 2 military points, or 1 faith point
23
Place without restrictions
No limits on quantity or colors of family members
24
Position in order
Place from left to right
25
Receive immediate reward
Gain 1 privilege and 1 coin
26
Determine next turn order
Rightmost family member's owner becomes first player next turn
27
Check faith requirements
Turn 2 requires 3 faith, Turn 4 requires 4 faith, Turn 6 requires 5 faith
28
Accept excommunication
If unable or unwilling to pay faith: place cube on that period's excommunication tile and suffer its effects; keep accumulated faith points
29
Support the Church
If able and willing: reduce faith to 0 and gain victory points shown on your faith track position
30
Score faith in final turn
Even excommunicated players gain victory points for their faith position in Turn 6
31
Discard remaining cards
Remove all development cards from towers
32
Update turn order
Reorder based on Council Palace placement; players who didn't visit maintain previous order; neutral pawns count as owner's color
33
Retrieve family members
All players take back their pawns from the board
