Escape: The Curse of the Temple

In this cooperative real-time dice-rolling game, players simultaneously explore a cursed temple by rolling symbols to move between rooms and discover magic gems. Everyone rolls five dice at once to navigate doorways and reveal new tiles. Players must collect gems together, then reach the exit tile and roll blue dice equal to remaining gems to escape. A soundtrack creates time pressure with periodic countdowns that cost dice if players aren't in the safe room.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Replace base chambers
Remove the 13 basic chambers from the box and use the 13 curse and treasure chambers instead

Identify special chambers
All replacement chambers have a purple mask, a treasure symbol, or both

Prepare curse cards
Shuffle the 14 curse cards and place them in a face-down pile accessible to all players

Prepare treasure tiles
Shuffle the 13 treasure tiles and place them in a face-down pile accessible to all players
5
Ignore curses during setup
When building the initial game board, ignore any curse symbols on chambers (follow base game setup rules)

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Draw curse card
When you discover a new chamber with a purple mask, draw the top card from the curse pile and place it face-up in front of you

Suffer curse effects
Curse cards hinder you during play with various negative effects:

Lift the curse
Roll the combination of symbols shown on your curse card to remove it from the game

Handle duplicate curses
If you draw a curse card identical to one you already have, discard the new card without effect
5
Place treasure tile
When you discover a new chamber with a treasure symbol, draw the top tile from the treasure pile and place it face-down on the treasure symbol
6
Collect treasure
When in a chamber with a treasure, roll two key symbols as an action to take the treasure tile and place it face-up in front of you

Any Extra Gem treasure tiles with activated magic stones count toward your gem total at the end of the game
