Middara is a cooperative miniatures adventure game for 1-4 players set in a modern fantasy world. Players navigate a branching narrative campaign exceeding 90 hours, making story-altering decisions while engaging in dice-based combat. Characters progress through a flexible point-buy system with 110+ abilities and 150+ equipment pieces. Victory depends on surviving encounters and successfully completing your chosen story path.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Organize cards by discipline
Sort all cards into their five disciplines: Assemblage, Cruor, Martial, Sanctus, and Subterfuge

Separate cards by level
Within each discipline, organize cards into Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 tiers

Prepare Level 1 cards
Note that Level 1 cards have 2 copies of each available in the game

Note XP requirements
Level 1 cards require XP:3, Level 2 require XP:5, Level 3 require XP:7, and Level 4 require XP:9

Identify card types
Recognize that cards have either PASSIVE abilities (always active), EXHAUST abilities (use once then flip), PER ENCOUNTER abilities, or combination effects

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Learn disciplines
Spend the required XP amount shown on the card to add it to your character

Use PASSIVE abilities
Apply these effects automatically without spending resources

Activate EXHAUST abilities
Flip the discipline card to use its exhaust effect once per recovery
4
Cast spells
Many disciplines require casting a SPELL 6 as part of their activation

Spend SP (Stamina Points)
Use SP to enhance abilities or activate certain discipline effects

Manage SOI (Sphere of Influence)
Many abilities affect allies or opponents within your SOI
7
Gain and spend tokens
Collect Vow tokens, Summon tokens, Energy tokens, or Intervention tokens as specified

Monitor your HP and use defensive disciplines to survive
