Time's Up! Title Recall!

4-18 players 60-60 min 7.7 Board Game Geek Rating

Players compete to identify entertainment titles across books, films, and music through three increasingly challenging rounds. Teams race against 30-second timers as clue-giving restrictions tighten: unlimited verbal hints initially, then single-word clues with gestures, and finally silent charades only. Victory goes to whichever team correctly guesses the most titles overall.

Time's Up! Title Recall!

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Divide into teams
Form teams with members sitting across from each other; two-player teams work best, though larger teams are needed with more than ten players
2
Choose a scorekeeper
Designate one player to track scores throughout the game
3
Select card color
Decide whether to use the yellow or blue titles on cards; do not mix colors within the same game
4
Deal initial cards
Distribute 40 cards evenly among all players, then deal two additional cards to each player
5
Discard unwanted cards
Each player looks at their cards and discards two of them without revealing choices to other players
6
Create the Deck of Fame
Shuffle all remaining cards together and stack them face down in the center of the table
7
Select starting team
Choose which team will take the deck first
8
Assign timer duty
The team clockwise from the starting team takes the 30-second timer

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Designate roles
One team member becomes the Cluegiver while the rest are Guessers; rotate the Cluegiver role on successive turns
2
Draw a card
The Cluegiver takes the top card from the Deck and looks at the chosen color title
3
Start the timer
The next team says "Go!" and starts the 30-second timer
4
Give clues in Round 1
Use unlimited words, sounds, pointing, charades, or full descriptions to convey the title
5
Give clues in Round 2
Use only one word per card; the same word may be repeated, but once spoken, only non-verbal clues may be added
6
Give clues in Round 3
Use only pantomime and sounds with no words at all
7
Make guesses
Guessers call out answers with no penalty for wrong guesses; they must say the full title as printed (words in parentheses are optional)
8
Score correct guesses
Set correctly guessed cards aside in a pile; draw a new card and continue
9
Handle time expiration
Shuffle the current card back into the Deck; keep correctly guessed cards in your scoring pile
10
Pass the deck
Give the Deck to the next team clockwise; they receive the timer from the team clockwise of them
11
End the round
When all titles have been guessed and the Deck is empty, pause the timer
