Thunderstone Advance: Towers of Ruin

Players assemble hero parties to battle Thunderstone Bearers and monsters in dungeons. This deck-building adventure game challenges you to defeat increasingly dangerous creatures with new abilities. Victory goes to whoever vanquishes the most valuable monsters. Features updated rules, redesigned cards, and new board components while maintaining compatibility with previous Thunderstone games.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Prepare card decks
Set up the village and hero stacks with cards available for purchase
2
Organize familiar deck
Place the familiar deck within reach for summoning
3
Distribute XP tokens
Prepare XP tokens in various colors (Orange, Blue, Gray, Red, Green, Yellow) for gameplay
4
Set up level 4 heroes
Make level 4 hero versions available for potential exaltation

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Explore the Village
Name 1 card and move all copies of that card on top of a village or hero stack to the bottom of that stack
2
Summon Familiar
Destroy this card to draw a familiar from the top of the familiar deck
3
Exalt Hero
Destroy this card, spend 4 XP, and destroy a level 3 hero to place an available level 4 version of that hero into your discard pile
4
Use Cypher
Discard an XP token to gain an effect based on the token's color

How to claim victory.

1
Collect XP tokens
Gather XP tokens throughout the game to power abilities and exalt heroes
2
Level up heroes
Progress heroes from level 3 to level 4 through the Exalt Hero action to strengthen your deck
3
Build your deck
Acquire familiars and powerful cards to achieve victory conditions
