Railroad Ink Challenge: Lush Green Edition

Players roll dice to draw railway and highway routes connecting board exits in this competitive roll-and-write game. Build networks using stations, factories, and villages while racing opponents to complete shared goals first. Score points through connections and special structures, but avoid dead-end penalties to win.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Distribute boards
Each player takes a Board and places it in front of them

Provide markers
Each player also takes a marker

Place Route dice
Put the white Route dice in the middle of the table

Select Goal cards
Shuffle the Basic Goal cards, randomly draw 3, and place them in the middle of the table

Add Expansion (optional)
If playing with an Expansion, place the Expansion dice with the Route dice and replace 1 Goal card with 1 random Expansion Goal card

Simplify if desired
To play without Goals, skip Goal card setup and ignore Goal points during final scoring

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Roll dice together
At the beginning of each round, roll all Route dice once and place them visibly for all players

Draw simultaneously
All players draw Routes on their boards at the same time based on the dice results
3
Connect all Routes
Each Route drawn must connect on at least one side to an Exit or a preexisting Route

Use all four dice
You must draw all 4 Routes shown on the dice each round if possible

Match Route types
You cannot draw Routes that directly connect Railways to Highways without a Station

Rotate freely
When drawing Routes, you may rotate and/or reverse the pattern shown on the die

Use Special Routes
Draw one of 6 Special Routes once per round in addition to dice results

Activate Factories
When drawing a Route with Railway and/or Highway in a Factory space, duplicate one Route die result this round
9
Activate Villages
When drawing a Station in a Village space, mark the leftmost unmarked Village space for end-game scoring
10
Activate Universities
When drawing a Route with Railway and/or Highway in a University space, mark one University space
11
Check Goals
After drawing, declare if you achieved any Goals and mark the highest available score

Mark round number
Write the current round number in the white boxes of each space you drew on this round

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Play seven rounds
The game ends after the 7th round (unless an Expansion changes this)
2
Score connected Exits
Each set of Exits connected via the same Network scores points based on Network Values on your board
3
Score Longest Highway
Count 1 point for each space in your single longest unbroken Highway path
4
Score Longest Railway
Count 1 point for each space in your single longest unbroken Railway path
5
Score Central Spaces
Gain 1 point for each of the 9 Central Spaces you drew anything on
6
Score Villages
Gain points equal to the highest-value marked Village space
7
Add Goal points
Include points earned from achieving Goals during the game
8
Count Errors
Each open end of a Route not connecting to another Route or board edge loses 1 point
9
Calculate total
Add all points earned and subtract Error penalties
10
Determine winner
The player with the most points wins
