One Night Ultimate Werewolf

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Select role cards based on player count
For 3 players use 2 Werewolves, 1 Seer, 1 Robber, 1 Troublemaker, and 1 Villager; add 1 Villager for 4 players; add 2 Villagers for 5 players
2
Always include extra cards
Use exactly 3 more role cards than the number of players
3
Shuffle and deal cards
Shuffle selected role cards face down and deal one to each player
4
Place center cards
Put the remaining 3 cards face down in the center of the table
5
Place role tokens
Put tokens matching the selected roles in the center for reference
6
View your role secretly
Each player secretly looks at their own role card
7
Position cards for access
Place your card near the center cards so all players can easily reach all cards
8
Select a Moderator
Choose one player to announce roles during the night phase; the Moderator also plays as a regular participant

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Close all eyes
The Moderator announces "Everyone close your eyes" and all players including the Moderator close their eyes
2
Werewolves wake
Werewolves open their eyes and look for other Werewolves who also opened their eyes
3
Minion wakes
The Minion opens eyes while Werewolves raise their thumbs so the Minion can identify them; Werewolves do not learn who the Minion is
4
Masons wake
Both Masons open their eyes and identify each other; if only one Mason exists, the other card is in the center
5
Seer wakes
The Seer may look at one other player's card OR two cards from the center without swapping them
6
Robber wakes
The Robber may swap their card with another player's card and then look at the new card they received; the other player now has the Robber card
7
Troublemaker wakes
The Troublemaker may swap the cards of two other players without looking at either card
8
Drunk wakes
The Drunk must swap their card with one center card without looking at the new card
9
Insomniac wakes
The Insomniac looks at their own card to check if it was changed
10
Adjust all cards
Before opening eyes, each player slightly moves their card and the Moderator adjusts center cards to hide who touched cards
11
All players wake
The Moderator announces "Everyone wake up"
12
Discuss and accuse
Players discuss who they believe is a Werewolf; players may say anything but cannot show their cards
13
Werewolves may lie
Werewolves can claim any role to avoid detection
14
Your role may have changed
After the night phase, your role is determined by the card currently in front of you, not your original card
15
No looking at cards
No player may look at any cards after the night phase ends
16
Use role tokens
Players may place tokens in front of others to track suspected roles
17
Vote simultaneously
After discussion, all players count "3, 2, 1" and point at another player at the same time
18
Determine who dies
The player with the most votes dies and reveals their card; in case of a tie, all tied players die
19
No death condition
If no player receives more than one vote, no one dies
20
Hunter's revenge
If the Hunter dies, the player they are pointing at also dies regardless of votes

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Villager team wins by killing a Werewolf
If at least one Werewolf dies, the entire Villager team wins even if Villagers also die
2
Villager team wins with no Werewolves
If all Werewolf cards are in the center and no one dies, the Villager team wins
3
Werewolf team wins by surviving
If at least one player is a Werewolf and no Werewolf is killed, the Werewolf team wins
4
Minion wins with Werewolves
The Minion wins if the Werewolf team wins, even if the Minion dies
5
Minion solo victory
If no Werewolves exist in the game, the Minion wins alone if any other player dies while the Minion survives (cannot be the Tanner)
6
Tanner wins by dying
The Tanner only wins if they are killed; the Tanner is on their own team
7
Tanner death blocks Werewolf victory
If only the Tanner dies and no Werewolf dies, the Werewolves do not win
8
Tanner and Villagers can both win
If the Tanner and a Werewolf both die, both the Tanner and Villager team win
9
Villagers lose if only Tanner dies
If the Tanner dies when all Werewolf cards are in the center, the Villager team loses
