A decade after heroes sealed dark portals, new gateways have emerged across the realm. In this dungeon-crawler, players control Lightbringers who must venture through these portals into hostile territory. Instead of merely closing entrances, heroes must confront the Darkness directly in its domain to achieve permanent victory and prevent total world consumption.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Prepare the Darkness Track
Place the Hard Challenge Darkness Track board visible to all players with the marker starting at position 1

Identify portal zones
Note all zones on the game board that contain a Portal for spawning purposes
3
Locate Roaming Monster Portal Zone
Identify the designated Roaming Monster Portal Zone for later spawning events

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Round 1-2 progression
Advance the Darkness Marker without additional enemy effects

Round 3 activation
Activate ALL enemies on the board; players choose the order, Mobs perform 2 actions, Roaming Monsters follow their card instructions or perform 2 actions
3
Round 4 spawning
Spawn a Mob in every Zone with a Portal, then activate each spawned Mob with players choosing the order
4
Round 5 activation
Activate ALL enemies on the board following standard activation rules

Round 6 dual event
Spawn a Roaming Monster on the Roaming Monster Portal Zone from 1 Dungeon Level higher if possible, then activate ALL enemies

Round 7 portal spawn with activation
Spawn a Mob in every Zone with a Portal using items from 1 Dungeon Level higher if possible, then activate each spawned Mob; players choose the order

Round 8-10 activation
Activate ALL enemies on the board each round following standard rules

Round 9 Roaming Monster
Spawn a Roaming Monster on the Roaming Monster Portal Zone from 1 Dungeon Level higher if possible
9
Round 11 higher level spawn
Spawn a Mob in every Zone with a Portal; Mobs and their items must be from 1 Dungeon Level higher if possible

Round 12-13 activation
Activate ALL enemies on the board following standard activation rules

Round 13 Roaming Monster
Spawn a Roaming Monster on the Roaming Monster Portal Zone from 1 Dungeon Level higher if possible

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Defeat condition
When the Darkness Marker reaches the skull space at the bottom of the track, the Quest ends in defeat
2
Survive to win
Complete the quest objectives before the Darkness Marker reaches the final skull space to achieve victory
