How to Play

Lords of Vegas

2-4 players 60-90 min 7.4 Board Game Geek Rating

Players are Nevada casino developers building on The Strip using dice and colored tiles. Pay money to construct lots, with the highest die value controlling each casino. Cards trigger scoring for matching casino colors, awarding money per lot and points to casino bosses. Victory goes to whoever accumulates the most points by controlling the largest, most valuable casinos through building, takeovers, and strategic gambling.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Distribute player components
Each player takes an action card, scoring chip, markers, and dice of one color (blue, green, red, or yellow)
2
Assign banker role
Choose one player to manage the bank
3
Place scoring chips
Put each player's scoring chip on the "0" space of the scoring track
4
Prepare the deck
Remove the "End of Game" card from the property cards and shuffle the remaining cards
5
Deal starting cards
Deal 2 cards to each player
6
Mark initial lots
Place one of your markers on each of the lots specified by your 2 cards
7
Collect starting money
Draw money from the bank equal to the sum of the 2 values shown on your cards
8
Discard starting cards
Place your 2 cards on the colored discard spaces on the board edge, arranged so colors can be easily counted
9
Insert End of Game card
Divide the deck into 4 roughly equal stacks, place the End of Game card on top of the 4th stack, then place the other 3 stacks on top
10
Determine first player
Each player rolls 2 dice; highest roller takes the player card and begins

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Draw a card
Take the top card from the deck to start your turn
2
Take over your lot
If the lot on your card is empty, place one of your markers on it; if it has another player's die from sprawling, replace it with your die at the same pip value; if the tile has no die, place your die matching the value printed on the board
3
Collect lot income
Each lot with a player marker pays that player $1, regardless of card drawn
4
Pay casinos by color
When a single-color card is drawn, all casinos of that color pay points and money everywhere on the board
5
Pay The Strip
When one of the 4 Strip cards is drawn, each casino with at least one edge adjacent to The Strip pays points and money
6
Calculate money paid
Receive $1 for each pip on each of your dice in paying casinos
7
Calculate points earned
The boss of each paying casino receives 1 point per tile in that casino
8
Record points individually
When paid for multiple casinos, record each casino's points separately, starting with smallest to largest
9
Navigate scoring breaks
To pass a break on the scoring track, you must have enough points to satisfy the space past the break; excess points are lost if insufficient
10
Discard the card
Place your card in the appropriate colored discard pile
11
Build a casino
Remove your marker from a lot you own, choose a casino tile, pay the amount specified on that lot, place the tile with your die showing the lot's die value
12
Sprawl into adjacent lots
Pay twice the build cost of an empty unowned lot adjacent to a casino where you are boss, place a tile of the same color with your die showing the lot's die value
13
Remodel a casino
Pay $5 per tile in a casino where you are boss to change all tiles to a new available color
14
Reorganize a casino
Pay $1 per pip on all dice in any casino where you have at least one die, then all players reroll their dice in that casino
15
Gamble at another's casino
Once per turn, bet up to $5 per tile at a casino where another player is boss
16
Check for ties
If 2 or more players have dice tied for largest value in a casino, immediately reroll only those tied largest dice at no cost
17
Continue rerolling
If still tied after rerolling, continue until one die has the largest value
18
Skip reroll if same player
No reroll occurs if all tied dice belong to the same player
19
Trade allowed items
You may trade money, lots, dice in casinos, or actions (your turn only) with any player at any time
20
Execute lot trades
Replace your marker with the other player's marker
21
Execute die trades
Replace your die with the other player's die at the same value
22
Prohibited trades
You may not trade points, casino tiles, or promises of future actions
