1-6 players 45-150 min 7.7 Board Game Geek Rating

In Oath, 1-6 players shape an ancient kingdom's destiny as supporters of order or agents of chaos. Each game's outcomes permanently alter future sessions, modifying available resources, actions, and victory conditions. Players might establish dynasties, spread cults, or foster anarchy—creating a unique, evolving narrative where past decisions influence subsequent generations of rulers and conflicts.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Decide campaign end condition
As a group, agree when the campaign game should end—either after a set number of games (e.g., after 15 games) or after a certain time period (e.g., after 6 months)
2
Set up the base game
Follow the standard Oath game rules for initial setup
3
Deal faction cards to new players
After setup, deal one faction card to each player who is joining the campaign for the first time
4
Retain faction cards for returning players
Players who previously participated in the campaign do not receive a new faction card and keep their original assignment
