Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Gather materials
Print the board, get a pencil, obtain 6-sided dice of different colors (6 per player), and some regular white 6-sided dice
2
Choose player colors
Each player picks a color and receives their corresponding dice
3
Determine first player
Each player rolls a single die and places it on the board
4
Understand white dice
White dice represent other courtisans (rival nobles not controlled by players)
5
Set starting influence
Players begin with an influence score that determines their dice pool

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Receive dice for the turn
Each player gets 4 dice total (2 white dice and 2 dice of their color)
2
Roll and place dice
The first player throws all their dice, then places all dice showing the same number onto the matching character space on the board (1=Queen, 2=King's Brother, etc.)
3
Keep remaining dice
Hold onto any dice not yet placed for subsequent rolls
4
Continue in turn order
The player to the left rolls and places, continuing around until all dice are thrown
5
Resolve favors at turn end
Starting with the Queen and ending with the King, determine who wins each character's favor
6
Choose your reward
Select one favor option from the character who granted it (cannot exceed 6 in any favor)

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Complete six turns
The game ends after the sixth turn is fully resolved
2
Compare Charge scores
The player with the highest Charge score wins
3
Break ties with Titles
If Charge scores are tied, compare Title scores
4
Break further ties with Fortune
If still tied, compare Fortune scores
5
Declare collective loss
If all tiebreakers fail, everybody loses—players failed to take advantage of the King's court favors
