Draftosaurus

2-5 players 15-15 min 7.1 Board Game Geek Rating

In Draftosaurus, players build the most appealing dinosaur park by drafting wooden dinosaur pieces and strategically placing them in restricted enclosures. Each round, a dice roll determines additional placement limitations for all players except the roller. Victory goes to whoever creates the park most attractive to visitors through clever dinosaur positioning within various pen constraints.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Prepare individual sets
Each player needs their own complete game set for playing via online communication platform

Fill the dinosaur bag
Set up as normal with the correct number of dinosaurs in the bag
3
Draw initial hand
Draw 6 dinosaurs into your hand

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Roll the dice
First player rolls the dice to determine placement restrictions
2
Declare and place
Both players declare their selected dinosaur and place it according to the dice rules
3
Discard to box
Both players discard a second selected dinosaur back to the box
4
Remove opponent's choices
Remove from your hand both the other player's selections and discard to the box
5
Handle missing matches
If you don't have matching dinosaurs in your hand, remove one from the bag
6
Set aside remaining dinosaurs
Put your remaining drawn dinosaurs to one side
7
Draw four new dinosaurs
Draw 4 new dinosaurs into your hand
8
Complete second placement
Roll, declare, place, discard, remove, discard following the same sequence
9
Set aside again
Put remaining dinosaurs to one side
10
Draw two new dinosaurs
Draw 2 new dinosaurs into your hand
11
Complete third placement
Roll, declare, place, discard, remove, discard
12
Continue additional rounds
Repeat for 3 more rounds following the same structure
13
Handle late-game shortages
If you don't have a matching dinosaur in your bag towards the end, discard a random one from the bag instead

Winning

How to claim victory.

Score as normal
After completing all 4 rounds, calculate scores using the standard Draftosaurus scoring rules

Determine winner
The player with the highest score wins
