In this standalone deck-building adventure, players explore randomly generated catacombs by laying tiles while building their card decks. Navigate through portals, discover treasures at wayshrines, and rescue prisoners while avoiding deadly ghosts. Success requires gathering fortune and escaping the skeletal dragon Umbrok Vessna before being haunted to death in the dangerous dungeon depths.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Place monster tokens
Put the three "Monster" tokens (or any figures that can represent them) next to the Dungeon Row

Choose difficulty level
Select between easy, normal, or hard difficulty which determines monster spawning and rewards
3
Note detection range
Monsters can detect players up to six rooms away regardless of difficulty level

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Monster spawning trigger
Monsters appear when the required number of monster cards accumulates in the Dungeon Row based on chosen difficulty

Monster movement phase
At the end of each player's turn (between buying cards and replacing them), all monsters move ONE space toward the closest players

Losing monsters
If a player moves more than six rooms away and no other player is within six rooms, the monster is removed from the catacombs
4
Combat engagement
Each monster requires THREE swords to defeat; player's meeple must be on the monster's space to attack
5
Room functions
Monsters do not affect room operations; all functions (artifacts, prisoners, hearts, etc.) work normally even with monsters present

Defeat rewards by difficulty
Collect rewards for defeating monsters based on chosen difficulty level
2
Monster respawning
Monsters must be defeated or lost (seeded) before new monsters can spawn
