In this cooperative post-apocalyptic fantasy, players are escaped slave-gardeners exploring a crumbling world. Using numbered cards, you gradually reveal terrain while interacting with inhabitants and environments. Your goal is building a city to restore the desolate lands while making crucial choices that determine your path to an epic confrontation with a mysterious Threat.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Sort Adventure cards by color
Green Adventure cards must always be placed before any gold Adventure cards bearing the same number
2
Sort cards by type within color
Among cards of the same color, Adventure cards with certain markers must always be placed before Adventure cards bearing the same number
3
Keep materials hidden
You may not look at the contents of cards, Threat Booklets, and Dialogue Book until the game invites you to do so

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Choose the active player
Select which player will take the current turn and which action to perform

Check for involved characters
Determine who participates based on action type

Gear up phase
The active player selects from their cards those whose effects they wish to apply

Draw phase
Determine the cost of the action and draw Action cards

Result phase
Reveal the cards and resolve effects
6
Consequence phase
Apply the consequences of the action
7
Card taking rules
A player may only take a gold card if there are no available green cards bearing the same number

Scenario-linked cards
Cards with specific scenario icons must be taken if the pictograph matches your scenario; otherwise take another card
9
Item restrictions
A player may not decide to discard certain item cards or give them to another player
10
Item transfer cost
When giving a card to another character on the same Terrain card, one player must pay a cost equal to the item's weight
11
Forbidden actions
While an event card is in play, the action that caused it may not be taken again from that Terrain card

Rule interpretation
Card text and dialogue override the rulebook; interpret ambiguities logically or in your favor

Follow scenario objectives
Victory conditions are determined by the specific scenario being played as revealed through the Dialogue Book and Quest cards

Complete required actions
Progress through the game by successfully completing actions and following narrative prompts from game materials
