Alternate placing Targi meeples
Starting player places one Targi, then opponent places one, continuing until all are placed

Avoid occupied spaces
Targi cannot be placed on cards occupied by the robber, your own Targi, or opponent's Targi

Respect corner restrictions
Targi cannot be placed on corner cards

Block opponent placement
Targi cannot be placed directly opposite (in front of) an opponent's Targi

Mark intersections
Place tribe markers at the intersections where your Targi's row and column cross (usually 2 intersections)

Execute actions freely
Starting player performs all their actions in any order, then the other player does the same

Skip actions optionally
Players may choose not to perform an action

Complete each action
Finish one action entirely before beginning another

Replace central cards
When taking a central card, replace it face-down with the opposite type (goods/tribe)

Handle stockouts
If goods tokens run out, track amounts on paper temporarily

Choose card fate
When acquiring a tribe card, either pay its cost to display it, hold it in hand, or discard it

Manage hand cards
Cards in hand can only be played or discarded through the "Noble" border card action

Build your display
Place tribe cards in a 3-row by 4-column grid, filling from left to right

Activate card abilities
Some cards provide one-time or permanent advantages

Reveal new cards
Draw and reveal new Goods and Tribe cards to refill empty spaces

Advance the robber
Move the robber one space clockwise around the border

Trigger raids
If the robber lands on a corner, each player discards what the corner card specifies, then the robber advances again

Pass first player token
The starting player token changes hands

Enforce storage limits
Players must have maximum 10 goods and 3 gold; discard any excess
