Sprawlopolis

1-4 players 15-20 min 7.3 Board Game Geek Rating

Players cooperatively construct a city using 18 cards in this variable scoring game. Each turn, place one card to build districts while minimizing costly road networks. Communication is essential, but players cannot reveal their hands. Victory requires reaching a dynamically generated target score after all cards are played, creating different challenges each game.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Play Count of Nine first
Begin the campaign by playing a standard game of Count of Nine using regular rules

Qualify for the campaign
Score 17 or more points in Count of Nine to impress the king and continue
3
Set aside major buildings
Put aside the two major buildings you built during Count of Nine
4
Prepare Sprawlopolis
Start a game of Sprawlopolis using regular rules

Include Points of Interest expansion
Use the Points of Interest expansion card for this game

Choose your Point of Interest
Instead of playing the expansion card at random, select one of your two buildings from Count of Nine to determine the zone type:

Follow standard rules
Play Count of Nine by its regular rules during the first phase
2
Continue to Sprawlopolis
Play Sprawlopolis by its regular rules during the second phase
3
Apply the Points of Interest card
Use the expansion card with the zone type determined by your chosen building

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Win the campaign
Win in Sprawlopolis after scoring 17+ in Count of Nine to complete the campaign successfully
2
Display your achievement
Place the major building you built next to your Sprawlopolis city to show that the Point of Interest signifies that structure
3
Admire your city
Take time to appreciate your completed city upon victory
4
Lose condition - Count of Nine failure
Score 16 or fewer points in Count of Nine and you lose the entire campaign
5
Lose condition - Sprawlopolis failure
Lose the game of Sprawlopolis and you lose the entire campaign
6
Restart upon failure
If you lose at either stage, start the entire campaign over from the beginning
