Quadropolis

2-4 players 30-60 min 7.2 Board Game Geek Rating

Players compete to build the best metropolis by strategically selecting building tiles using numbered architects. Each turn, place an architect beside a 5x5 grid to claim the corresponding tile position, then add it to your personal city board. Placement restrictions limit future options for all players. After four rounds, score points based on how well you've arranged six building types with required inhabitants and energy resources.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Place the Construction Site
Put the Construction Site board on the table

Set up resources
Place the Inhabitants (blue meeples) and Energy Units (red cylinders) next to the Construction Site

Distribute player components
Give each player 1 Player Mat, 1 Helper, and 4 Architects of their color numbered #1 to #4

Separate Expert buildings
Set aside Buildings marked "Expert" on the back for Expert Mode only

Sort buildings by round
Sort all other Buildings by the number on their back (#1 to #4)

Prepare first round buildings
Put all #1 Buildings in the cloth bag, draw them randomly, and place face-down on the Construction Site

Reveal buildings based on player count
Turn Buildings face-up according to player count:

Position the Urbanist
Place the Urbanist next to the Construction Site within reach of all players

Determine first player
Designate the first player and give them the Mayor pawn

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Take a Building from Construction Site
Choose a line or column and place an Architect in front of it

Move the Urbanist
Place the Urbanist on the square where the Building was taken (even if empty)

Place the Building in your city
Position the taken Building on an empty square matching the Architect's number

Receive Resources
Take Inhabitants and/or Energy Units shown on the Building's top left corner
5
Discard if necessary
If no eligible square exists, discard the Building and receive no Resources
6
Activate Buildings
Place required Resources on Buildings to activate them for scoring
7
Claim first player
If you build the Tower Block with the Mayor symbol, take the Mayor pawn immediately
8
End of round cleanup
After all players use 4 Architects, clear remaining Buildings, recover Architects, and set up next round's Buildings

Winning

How to claim victory.

Play four complete rounds
The game ends after the fourth round is completed

Final resource allocation
Reallocate Resources one last time before scoring begins

Remove unactivated Buildings
Any Building without required Resources is removed before scoring

Score Tower Blocks
Award VPs based on number of floors (1=1, 2=3, 3=6, 4=10)
5
Score Shops
Award VPs based on Customers placed on them (1=1, 2=2, 3=4, 4=7)
6
Score Public Services
Award VPs based on how many different Districts contain them (1=2, 2=5, 3=9, 4=14), plus any VPs printed on tiles

Score Parks
Award VPs based on adjacent Tower Blocks (1=2, 2=4, 3=7, 4=11)
8
Score Factories
Award 2 VPs per adjacent Shop and 3 VPs per adjacent Harbor

Score Harbors
Award VPs for longest continuous line AND longest continuous column (2=3, 3=7, 4=12), plus any VPs printed on tiles
10
Apply penalties
Subtract 1 VP for each unused Inhabitant and each unused Energy Unit

Absorb pollution with Parks
Place 1 excess Energy Unit on each Park to avoid its penalty

Determine the winner
The player with the most Victory Points wins

Break ties
If tied, the player with the most Inhabitants on Buildings wins; if still tied, the player with fewest empty city spaces wins
