Ohanami

2-4 players 20-20 min 7.3 Board Game Geek Rating

In Ohanami, players draft cards over three rounds, building personal rows by placing cards higher or lower than existing endpoints. Each round, choose two cards from your hand, then pass remaining cards to neighbors. Score blue cards each round, green cards in rounds two and three, gray cards only in round three, and pink cards using pyramidal scoring at game's end. Highest total wins.

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Shuffle the deck
The cards are shuffled thoroughly before dealing

Deal starting hands
Each player is dealt 10 cards

Set aside remaining cards
The remaining cards will be used in the following rounds

Prepare scoring materials
Have a score sheet and a pen ready to record points

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Select cards to play
Each player selects exactly 2 cards from their hand and places them face down in front of them

Pass remaining cards
Pass all other cards to the player next to you

Reveal and place cards
Once all players have selected 2 cards and passed their remaining cards, players add their selected cards to their columns or start new columns

Build gardens correctly
Each player can have a maximum of 3 columns of cards

Continue until hands empty
Repeat selecting 2 cards and passing until each player has played 10 cards (5 times 2 cards), ending the round
6
Score after rounds 1 and 2
Calculate points based on card colors
7
Deal new cards
After scoring rounds 1 and 2, deal another 10 cards to each player for the next round
8
Keep existing gardens
Cards in player gardens remain on the table between rounds and can be extended in future rounds

How to claim victory.

Complete final scoring after round 3
Score all motif colors after the third round
2
Calculate total points
Add all points from all three rounds for each player

Determine the winner
The player with the most total points wins the game
4
Break ties
In case of a tie, the player who laid the most pink cards wins
