How to Play

Nova Luna

1-4 players 30-60 min 7.3 Board Game Geek Rating

In this abstract tile-laying game, players select tiles from a rotating moon wheel and arrange them strategically. Each tile presents color-matching tasks that require adjacent tiles of specific colors to complete. Successfully completing tasks allows you to place markers on them. Victory goes to the first player who places all their markers by efficiently solving these interconnected tile puzzles.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Lay out the Moon board
Place the Moon board in the center and position the Moon marker at the "12 o'clock" position (the outer notch)
2
Prepare the tiles
Shuffle all tiles face-down into stacks, then place 11 tiles face-up in the empty spaces around the outside of the Moon board
3
Distribute player disks
Each player takes 21 disks of their color
4
Create turn order stack
Stack 1 disk from each player just below the Moon marker in a random order to determine initial turn order

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Determine active player
The player whose disk is furthest behind on the Moon board takes the next turn
2
Fill the Moon board (optional/required)
At the beginning of your turn, if only 1 or 2 tiles remain around the Moon board, you may choose to fill it back up
3
Select a tile and move the Moon marker
From the Moon marker, select and take one of the next 3 tiles (ignore empty spaces), then move the Moon marker to the space where you removed your tile
4
Advance your player disk
Move your disk clockwise on the Moon board a number of spaces equal to the number shown in the upper left of the tile you took
5
Place your tile
Add the tile to your personal display adjacent to another tile you have already placed (your first tile starts your display)
6
Complete goals
Check if any goals on your tiles are now completed

Winning

Place all your disks
The winner is the first player to place all 20 of their disks on completed goals
