Cyclades: Legendary Edition

2-6 players 60-90 min 8.1 Board Game Geek Rating

Players compete for divine favor in ancient Greece's Cyclades archipelago through strategic bidding to secure gods' support. Each turn, you bid for one deity's unique abilities to develop cities, deploy creatures, and battle opponents. The modular board uses landscape tiles for varied gameplay. Victory requires controlling three metropolises first, achieved through balanced resource management and tactical decisions.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Draw Monument cards
Randomly draw a number of Monument cards equal to the number of players before the game starts
2
Display available Monuments
Place the drawn Monument cards face-up next to the game board
3
Prepare miniatures
Take the corresponding Monument miniatures for the drawn cards
4
Remove unused components
Return all unused Monument cards and miniatures to the box
5
Note on Titans Expansion
With "Free Positioning" rules, players may start with two buildings and can potentially build a Monument right from the start

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Check construction eligibility
As soon as you control two buildings shown on one of the available Monument cards, you may build that Monument
2
Build the Monument
Place the Monument miniature in one of your territories when you control both required buildings
3
Take the card
Collect the corresponding Monument card as a reminder of its effect
4
Timing of construction
Building can occur after constructing the second required building or after taking control of a territory containing a needed building
5
Required buildings remain
The two buildings used to construct a Monument stay on the board
6
Missed construction opportunity
If you forget to build when eligible, you may do so later while resolving your god's actions (not during Apollo), if you still have both buildings and no one else built it
7
Monument placement
A Monument does not occupy a building space; it is placed in the territory like a figurine that will not move
8
Benefit from effects
Each Monument provides a special effect to the player who controls the territory it occupies
9
Change of ownership
When a player takes control of a territory with a Monument, they take the corresponding card from the former owner
10
Giant restriction
The Giant cannot be used to destroy a Monument
11
Theater restriction (Hades)
The Theater cannot be used to construct Monuments; players must have the required buildings shown on the card

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Metropolis construction
A Monument does not count as a building that can be used for the construction of a Metropolis
2
Unique construction
Each Monument can only be built once during the game
3
Special Metropolis combination (Titans)
It is possible to combine the effects of a Special Metropolis and a Monument
4
Standard victory conditions apply
The expansion adds strategic options but does not change the base game's victory conditions
