Blue Lagoon

2-4 players 30-45 min 7.2 Board Game Geek Rating

Players control settlers exploring a newly discovered archipelago in this area control and set collection game. Each turn, place a settler or village token to gather scattered resources. The exploration phase allows flexible placement, while the settlement phase restricts expansion to previously established villages. Victory goes to whoever scores the most points from collected resource sets.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Prepare the resource bag
Place all resources and statuettes in the bag

Populate stone circles
Randomly draw and place 1 resource or statuette on each stone circle on the board

Distribute player pieces
Each player takes all Villages and Settlers in their color
4
Select starting player
Pick a random start player; play continues clockwise

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Place a sea settler
Place 1 Settler on any empty sea space (no adjacency required)

Place a land piece
Place 1 Settler or Village on an empty island space adjacent to one of your existing pieces

Collect items
If you place a piece on a hex with a Resource or Statuette, add it to your collection

Trigger phase end
Phase ends when all resources are collected OR all players have placed all their pieces

Score points
Complete scoring for all categories

Return settlers
All Settlers return to their players

Keep villages
Villages stay on the board, except villages on Stone Circles or unplaced villages are removed from the game

Reset resources
Return all resources and statuettes to the bag, randomly place 1 on each Stone Circle

Begin Settlement Phase
Next player clockwise after whoever ended the Exploration Phase goes first

Place adjacent settlers only
Place 1 Settler on any empty space adjacent to one of your pieces (all placements require adjacency, including sea spaces)

How to claim victory.

End the game
The Settlement Phase ends when all resources are collected OR all players have placed their pieces

Calculate total score
Combine points from both phases using these categories:

Determine the winner
Player with the highest combined score wins
4
Break ties
If tied, the player with the most resources and statuettes wins
