Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Acquire initial components
If this is your first Skirm duel, gain destiny 1603 (place it in the center) and find cards 1517–1528 (12 total cards)
2
Store components
These cards can remain in a deck on the table with the rules card from now on
3
Randomize opponent's card
Unless an action result lists a specific card, randomize Skirm cards 1517–1528 and remove 1 face down to represent the sentient opponent's card
4
Assign sentient controller
Another player acts on behalf of the sentient opponent
5
Gain temporary card
If you have yet to collect any Skirm cards, temporarily gain a random remaining Skirm card (1517-1528) to use for this duel only
6
Gather dice
Take 12 skill dice: 6 for you and 6 for your opponent (keep them in separate pools)
7
Prepare point trackers
Keep some boost tokens handy to track points

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Roll initial dice
Both duelists roll 6 skill dice
2
Reveal Skirm cards
Both duelists simultaneously reveal 1 Skirm card (choose one if you have multiple)
3
Determine turn order
The duelist with the highest-speed Skirm card (upper left number) goes first; if tied, the higher card ID number goes first
4
Track printed skills
Use skill tokens to represent the printed skills on the card and keep them close to the dice
5
Activate first ability
The first duelist activates their ability (the text at the bottom of the card, next to an icon)
6
Activate second ability
The opponent then activates their ability
7
Apply ability scope
Unless otherwise noted, abilities refer to your dice and skills
8
Determine best skill type
A duelist's "best" skill type is their most abundant skill (on dice and on the card)
9
Compare skill types
Compare each skill type (your dice plus printed skills on each card) to award 1 point per type
10
Apply additional scoring
Each Skirm card has additional scoring explained above the card's ability (text without an icon)

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Count total points
The duelist with the most points wins
2
Break ties
If tied, the duelist who went first wins
3
Claim victory reward
If you win the duel, gain 2 influence
4
Gain new card
Win or lose, gain a random card from the Skirm spoiler pack to your reserve
5
Collection limit
Your entire Skirm collection counts as only 1 reserved card
6
Sentient victory reward
If the opposing sentient won, the player acting on behalf of them gains influence (they don't gain or keep a Skirm card)
