In Spots, players roll dice and assign them to dog cards in this push-your-luck adventure. Unplaceable dice accumulate in your yard, risking a bust if too many gather. Victory comes from successfully completing six different dog cards before your luck runs out.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Place trick tiles
Remove 6 trick tiles (Howl, Walk, Run, Roll Over, Fetch, Beg) from the box and place them face-up in the center of the table
2
Distribute dog cards
Shuffle the dog card deck and deal 2 cards face-up to each player - this is your starting dog pack
3
Create the dog deck
Place remaining dog cards face-down with grey side up in the center of the table
4
Set up shared supplies
Place all dice and treats in piles accessible to all players
5
Prepare player yards
Each player takes 1 yard card, 1 treat token, and 1 die
6
Bury initial die
Each player rolls their die and places it in their yard (this counts toward the bust limit of 7 spots)
7
Determine first player
The player with the highest buried die value goes first; re-roll ties until broken

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Choose your action
Select either (1) perform a trick or (2) score your dogs
2
Perform a trick
Select any face-up trick tile, flip it face-down, and follow all steps listed on it in order
3
Spend treats to reroll
After rolling but before placing or burying, spend 1 treat to reroll ALL dice just rolled
4
Watch for busting
If total spots on buried dice in your yard exceed 7, you bust immediately
5
Follow mandatory steps
All steps on trick tiles are required unless marked "may"
6
Skip impossible steps
If you cannot perform a step (like rolling a buried die when you have none), skip it
7
Handle repeatable steps
Steps marked as repeatable can be done as many times as you want until you choose to stop or bust
8
Trick tile power scaling
Some tricks become stronger based on how many dog cards you have (marked with paw symbol)
9
Resolve dice before continuing
After each roll, place or bury all dice before proceeding to additional rolls
10
Score dogs (slow and steady)
Instead of performing a trick, choose to score all completed dog cards
11
Score dogs (fast and risky)
If you complete dog cards during a trick, score immediately without using your turn
12
Complete scoring requirements
First place or bury all recently rolled dice before scoring can trigger
13
Reset trick tiles
When only 1 face-up trick tile remains, place 1 treat on it, then flip all tiles face-up

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Score six dogs to win
The first player to score 6 dog cards wins immediately
2
Respect the six-card limit
You can never have more than 6 dog cards (scored plus unscored combined)
3
Handle dice/treat shortage
If dice run out, players roll whatever is available even if less than required
