In post-apocalyptic Scotland, clan leaders compete to restore devastated lands by strategically placing tiles representing reconstruction efforts. Players draw and position tiles each turn to rebuild prestigious castles across the territory. Victory comes through tactical placement and strategic foresight as you claim control over key locations, combining classic tile-laying mechanics with meaningful decisions.

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

Position the board
Lay out the Board in the middle of the table, Scotland side up

Create mission deck
Shuffle the 32 Mission Cards together and place the deck face-down on the Board in the designated spot

Choose player colors
Each player chooses a color and places their Scoring Counter on the 0 space of the score track around the perimeter of the Board

Distribute player components
Each player places their Clan Board and all Castles and Cathedrals of their color in front of themselves

Set up scoring achievement
Place the Scoring Achievement with a blank side in its slot next to the Clan Board, blank side up

2-player setup
Take 32 Tiles of any unused color and place them face-down on spaces marked with the yellow hex icon
7
3-4 player tile collection
Each player collects all Tiles of their color

4-player tile reduction
Each player returns to the box: 3 Energy Farm Tiles, 3 Food Farm Tiles, and 1 Settlement Tile each of value 2, 3, and 4

Prepare tile supply
Each player places their Tiles face-down in front of themselves and shuffles them
10
Remove tiles from game
Each player draws 2 of their Tiles, looks at them privately, and places them face-down on their Clan Boards (these will not be used this game but can be viewed anytime)

Draw starting tile
Each player randomly draws 1 Tile to their hand and looks at it privately
12
Determine first player
The player who last visited Scotland starts the game, with play progressing clockwise

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

Place your tile
Place the Tile from your hand face-up on an unoccupied hexagonal space on the Board that matches the symbol on the Tile (Food Farm, Energy Farm, or Settlement)

Food Farm placement
Place Food Farm Tiles only on spaces featuring a Food Farm icon or on blank spaces with no icons

Energy Farm placement
Place Energy Farm Tiles only on spaces featuring an Energy Farm icon or on blank spaces with no icons
4
Settlement placement
Place Settlement Tiles only on spaces featuring the Settlement icon
5
Placement exception
If no valid spaces exist for your tile type, you may place it on the opposite farm type space
6
Score Food Farms
Score 1 point for each Tile in the cluster of Food Farms you created or added to, including the Tile just placed
7
Score Energy Farms
Score 1 point for each Tile in the cluster of Energy Farms you created or added to, including the Tile just placed
8
Score Small Settlements
When placing a tile in a 1-space settlement, immediately score points equal to the Influence of the Settlement Tile (number of Settlement icons: 1-4)
9
Score Medium Settlements
When both spaces are occupied, the player with most Influence scores 5 points, the other player scores 3 points
10
Score Large Settlements
When all 3 spaces are occupied, most Influence scores 8 points, second most scores 5 points, others score nothing
11
Score Ports
When placing a Settlement Tile on a Port space, immediately score 1 point in addition to any settlement scoring

Claim Cathedrals
First time you place a Tile adjacent to a Cathedral space, place 1 of your Cathedrals on that space and draw 1 Mission Card privately

Contest Castles
First Tile placed adjacent to a Castle space grants control; place your Castle on that space
14
Draw a new tile
After scoring, draw 1 Tile from your supply into your hand and look at it privately

Winning

How to claim victory.

1
Game end trigger
The game ends when all players have placed all of their Tiles from their supply onto the Board
2
Score incomplete settlements
Each Settlement Tile in a Settlement with unoccupied spaces scores points equal to its Influence value
3
Score controlled castles
Players score 5 points for each Castle they control on the Board
4
Score Mission Cards
Reveal Mission Cards and score points for any conditions satisfied
5
Determine winner
The player with the most points wins
6
Break ties with Edinburgh Castle
If tied for winner, the player controlling Edinburgh Castle (marked with White Shamrock Icon) wins
7
Secondary tiebreaker
If no tied player controls Edinburgh Castle, the player controlling Stirling Castle wins, even if they were not tied for first place
