Let's Go! To Japan

Get Ready

Setup the game with these step-by-step instructions before diving into your turn.

1
Distribute player components
Each player takes 1 player board, 1 Starting Train token, 1 Mood Tracker token, 1 Stress token, 1 Happiness token, 6 Favorable Condition tokens (matching their board color), and 5 Experience tokens
2
Set aside Starting Train tokens
Place these off to the side of the board until final scoring
3
Position Mood Tracker token
Place on the center space of the Mood Track at the top of each player board
4
Position Stress and Happiness tokens
Place the red Stress token on the leftmost space of the Stress Track, and the green Happiness token on the leftmost space of the Happiness Track
5
Position Experience tokens
Place all 5 Experience tokens on the leftmost "0" space of the Experience Track
6
Randomize Favorable Condition tokens
One player randomizes their six tokens and places one on each day (Monday to Saturday) in the circular spots; all other players copy this arrangement
7
Prepare Activity decks
Shuffle Tokyo cards (blue) and Kyoto cards (pink) separately, placing them "Go for a Walk" side up in the central play area with space for a discard pile
8
Set up Round Tracker
Place the Round Tracker Board centrally and put the Round Tracker token on the first (leftmost) circular space
9
Create supply piles
Make accessible piles of wild tokens, train tokens, research tokens, walk tokens, and 12+ tokens in the central area

On Your Turn

What you can do during your turn.

1
Draw cards as indicated
Draw Activity cards simultaneously to your hand based on the Round Tracker Board position
2
Handle round 13 draw
Draw 1 card from either Tokyo or Kyoto deck, then draw the 1 remaining card from your player board (without looking at it first)
3
Play required number of cards
Play 1 or 2 Activity cards simultaneously to your itinerary as indicated by the Round Tracker Board
4
Use Research tokens (optional)

5
Place Activity cards
Add cards to columns below any day (Monday to Saturday) on your player board
6
Consider strategic placement
Place cards to match Favorable Condition tokens, group Tokyo/Kyoto cards together to minimize train penalties, and position cards to meet Highlight bonus requirements
7
Plan a Walk (alternative action)
Discard 1 card, take the top face-down card from either deck without looking, place it face-down in your itinerary, and take 1 Research token
8
Handle yellow background cards
Choose whether each counts as Tokyo or Kyoto when scoring

Count matching icons
Total the icons in upper sections of all 3 cards that match the day's Favorable Condition token

22
