Complete mandatory steps
All players ALWAYS complete 4 steps: adjust gear, play cards, move their car, and draw back up to seven cards

Perform simultaneous actions
All players complete steps 1 and 2 at the same time without waiting for each other

Resolve movement in order
Steps 3-9 are completed one player at a time, starting with the frontmost car closest to the Race Line

Check current gear
Look at which gear your car is in from the previous round

Shift one position
Decide to leave the gear where it is or shift it one gear up or down

Shift two positions
Optionally move your Gear pawn two positions (e.g., between gears 1&3 or 2&4) by paying 1 Heat immediately

Play cards matching your gear
Your current gear determines exactly how many cards you play (1st gear = 1 card, 2nd gear = 2 cards, etc.)

Place cards facedown
Keep your 1-4 played cards facedown in your own Play Area

Reveal played cards
Flip all cards in your play area so values are visible

Calculate your speed
Add all card values together to determine your total speed

Move your car
Move forward exactly that many Spaces on the track

Choose optimal position
Always put your car on the Spot closest to the Race Line if available

Pass through cars
Cars never prevent you from passing through them, even when the track looks blocked

Handle blocked spaces
If you would end in a Space where all Spots are occupied, place your car in the first Space with a free Spot behind the blocking cars

Resolve Stress cards
For each Stress card played, flip cards from your draw deck until you find a Speed card (discard all non-Speed cards) and add that Speed card to your played cards

Check eligibility
Only applies if you are the last car to move this round (or two last cars in races with 5+ cars)

Gain extra speed
You may add 1 extra speed (move 1 extra Space) before or after your boost

Access extra Cooldown
You gain access to 1 additional Cooldown during your React step

Use it or lose it
Adrenaline cannot be saved for future rounds

Activate available symbols
Use symbols from your current gear or Adrenaline in any order you want

Use Cooldown
Take Heat cards from your hand and return them to your Engine (1st gear gives Cooldown 3, 2nd gear gives Cooldown 1)

Use Boost
Pay 1 Heat to flip cards from your draw deck until you find a Speed card, then move your car that additional amount

Check position
Only applies if you end your move next to or behind another car

Optionally move 2 Spaces forward

Note for corners
Slipstreaming does NOT increase your Speed value for corner checks

Verify corner crossing
Only applies if you crossed through a Corner Line this round

Compare speed to limit
Check if your total Speed exceeds the corner's Speed Limit

Pay Heat for excess speed
If your Speed is higher than the Speed Limit, pay Heat equal to the difference

Handle multiple corners
If you drove through several corners, pay for each separately starting with the first Corner Line crossed

Spin out if unable to pay
If you cannot pay enough Heat:

Remove unwanted cards
You may discard cards from your hand to your discard pile

Keep discard pile private
Only the top card of discard piles is public knowledge

Cannot discard certain cards
You can never choose to discard Stress or Heat cards

Move played cards
Take all cards from your Play Area and put them onto your discard pile

Draw cards
Draw back up to 7 cards in your hand

Reshuffle when empty
If your draw deck runs out, immediately shuffle your discard pile to form a new draw deck (do not shuffle cards currently in your Play Area)

Understand the Heat cycle
Heat cards move from Engine to discard pile when spent, then shuffle into your draw deck and reach your hand; Cooldown returns them to Engine

Heat reduces hand size
Heat cards cannot be discarded or played, filling your hand with useless cards

Handle cluttered hands
If you have too many Heat cards to play enough cards for your gear, play as many playable cards as possible with Heat cards covering the rest
